FAQ
The questions worth asking
Including the uncomfortable ones. If your question is not here, ask it on the first call and we will answer it the same way.

Each phase is quoted at a fixed price against the specification produced in discovery. If we have underestimated the work in that specification, that is our problem and we absorb it. If you change what the phase has to do, we quote the change before starting it. You will not receive an invoice you have not already agreed to.
-
You do. Both. The specification produced in discovery is yours as well, including the right to take it to another developer. Your data can be exported in full at any time, in a standard format, without asking us first.
-
This is a fair question to ask a small team. Your source code sits in a repository you have access to. Systems are documented as they are built, not afterwards. We will put a source code escrow arrangement in place if you want one. Any competent FileMaker or Laravel developer can pick up the work.
-
No, and we would usually advise against it. Xero, MYOB and QuickBooks all do the accounting job well. We integrate with the one you already run, so your bookkeeper keeps working the way they always have.
-
You will see a clickable prototype within about six weeks of starting discovery. The first phase of the real system is usually in production within four to six months, depending on scope. You do not wait for the whole thing to be finished before any of it is useful.
-
Sometimes it is not the right answer, and we will say so. FileMaker suits internal operational systems with complex logic and a defined user base, because it is quick to change as the business changes. When a system needs to be public facing, or carry high concurrency, we build in Laravel instead. The choice is made against your problem, not our preference.
Book a discovery call
Thirty minutes with the person who would build your system. We will ask about how your business runs today, where the manual work sits, and what you have already tried. You will leave with a view on whether custom software is worth it for you, and a rough range for what it would cost. There is no charge and no obligation.
Or call 02 7208 8867 during business hours.
